This is a follow up to an earlier post in July, 2016 concerning stoplights that are not in proper working order. In a slightly different scenario, where the light is flashing red as oppose to not working at all, special care should also be taken. This is because, the stoplight may or may not be flashing red for all other directions. You may have a flashing red, but other direction may have a flashing yellow. Consequently, if you come to such an intersection with a flashing red signal, do not assume all other directions have the same signal. They may in fact have a flashing light or caution light only, but they have the right away. To make matters worse, you may be fooled by some drivers treating their caution light as a flashing red signal like yours. Thus, when you think your turn comes to go, another car that is relying on its yellow light for right away, T-bones or side impacts you. If you do confront a flashing red where a normal stoplight functions, be sure to look for any signs set up by the city or state explaining the traffic situation. There may or may not be a sign. In any case proceed with all caution.
